“Mountain and Island,” is a mixture of scenery and memory that experiments with Eastern frameworks regarding the relationship between human life, natural cycles, and the harmony of the two. In this body of work, fraught with intense color and simplified lines, Chae Rimm interprets natural processes of transformation expressed by mountains and islands over time. By including the five colors of Korea—yellow, blue, red, white, and black—these works reflect yin and yang harmony. Chae Rimm’s Korean color language, which encompasses visual sensibility and deep thought, will be conveyed in various emotions in these landscapes.
