For “Sky in the orchard”, Rimm Chae took another step from her usual ‘structural painting.’ Despite it being difficult to work with, she chose brass instead of cool-toned metals to convey a sense of warmth and elegance. The creation of “Sky in the orchard” greatly resembles the growth of a tree or flower, in that Rimm Chae used bronze to ‘draw’ rather than ‘sculpt’ her work - each line grows into a flower, then a branch through multiple welding processes until it is finished.
