ART HAUS Basel is a group exhibition being held concurrently with Art Basel at a space overlooking the Rhine. The ART HAUS venue is located near the historical Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois and Gagosian Gallery’s Basel location.
In section one, she presents In the Midst of Life, with its motif of mountains and islands that metaphorically convey contemporary nostalgia in various hues of blue.
The second section consists of The Good Earth and Arirang Cantabile. The Good Earth series of various colors of ottchil (Korean lacquer) and hanji (Korean mulberry paper) layers fills the canvases with the unique texture of hanji distinct from the matière of oil paintings, while the Arirang Cantabile series of “saekdong (multi-colored stripes) landscapes” was originally presented at a collateral exhibition of the Venice Biennale in 2022.
